Established in 1989
The program was inspired by an ex-offender who experienced difficulty with her re-entry into society. She noticed the number of repeat offenders in the system, and asked them about the circumstances that brought them back. The common thread was an absence of a support system in the "free world". The Friendship Connection became pioneers in "bridging the gap" between incarceration and a full entry into long term substance abuse treatment.
The Friendship Connection is a 24 bed (12 primary and 12 transitional residential) female facility for women with an alcohol or drug dependence, non-violent ex-offenders and pregnant individuals interested in beginning the recovery process from substance abuse. The primary treatment component is a 30-day comprehensive program and the residential transitional treatment component is a 75-day program. This facility is certified by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Services.
The staff at this facility possess the experience, knowledge, and compassion to provide individual and group therapeutic sessions, and educational group sessions to clients. Comprised of accredited counselors and dedicated staff who have completed the program themselves, The Friendship Connection team works together to assist our clients in recovery.
